However, I decided early on that I wasn’t going to go looking for things that I would find inspirational. Instead, I’d look in the way of fortunate stumblings. Almost take a serendipitous approach, a series of fortunate accidents. This could be the wrong approach, and I could lose marks because of it, but it’s the way I’ve been inspired for years. You can’t plan a logical course of where you’ll find your next influence. So, with a head like a sponge, I just began soaking up whatever was around me.<br /><br />It appears that the sources of my inspiration don’t just come from the Internet, thankfully. I won’t neglect the fact that it has served a purpose for the ‘Website’ category and finding adequate images, but I haven’t been dependent on it. I’ve drawn inspiration from the most obscure of places: walking though different cities, sitting on my arse in the lounge watching telly, even misspelling intended pools of information on search engines has proven useful. Seems that inspiration can literally come from anywhere. Design-related publications like Creative Review, Dirty Mouse, Computer Arts and Design Week have obviously been good sources because of the subject matter.<br /><br />Inspiration: ‘the process of being mentally stimulated to do something creative.’ It’s the true mark of finding something that leaves an impact; if it encourages you to make an impact of your own. Pleased to say that what I’ve found has encouraged some elements in my portfolio. The Patrick Hughes work influenced my play on perspective for D&AD, the Woman’s Aid campaign has encouraged me to do a more aggressive personal project for the Samaritans, and Seb Lester and Alison Carmichael have helped me create something more appealing for this one week brief that’s been set.<br /><br />Even though the deadline is coming up soon, this doesn’t mean that the blog isn’t going to develop further. I’ve never been a keen blogger; I’ve never used MySpace or BeBo so this was my first taste. I’ve looked on other people’s blogs for this brief and I have found new avenues which I probably never would of found otherwise. It's a renewable source, and one which I intend to pool from from now on.Andy Hewitthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13836663528474282415noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2016466868583953784.post-23373946594150179232009-10-08T02:25:00.000-07:002009-10-08T04:09:10.259-07:00Alison Carmichael / Exquisite Handjobs<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2h9KBu3j_ztzaJab-moMVHDpT4K2tEdINd2L68HASAnP0trcIbUuV-3-A6rWSlZmEGVd96yTjz8hDm2HZPQLDsXr6LGHE861ziBcPyQN64ATGwwo5AtQLCSd2IhnjByWIYDsLVIuKtw/s1600-h/DQ6nlNqtqmd73jybgWHQx6Pko1_500.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; The Guggenheim in New York has been a popular icon in modern architecture since its construction. The main motivation was that it needed to create a green image due to its location by the harbour and each apartment needed optimum sunshine exposure. Often in a one-sided contest, the film will never be as good as the book, apart from the special few that are: <span style="font-style: italic;">Angela's Ashes, The Shawshank Redemption </span>and<span style="font-style: italic;"> Enduring Love</span>.<br /><br />To celebrate these great adaptations, Film4 launched this advertisement...<br /><br /><object height="344" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/IZ3Zi3fhJ18&hl=en&fs=1&"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/IZ3Zi3fhJ18&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" height="344" width="425"></embed></object><br /><br />It's been a long time since I've seen 'flicker-book' effects used to promote anything (in fact, the only other advert I can think of that does is the latest one from Sony Bravia). A movie snapshot appears from the pages and you can't help but be impressed with how such a straight-forward idea catches your attention. Also a nice little touch: on the quick pan shots of the stacked books you can make out some of your favorites that you know will be aired on screen over the following month.Andy Hewitthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13836663528474282415noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2016466868583953784.post-30882379838883428922009-10-06T14:42:00.000-07:002009-10-08T02:01:40.144-07:00Unbox The Box<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWI07KMqokV-Ef6ZQwS_vEhLdBj-5J6lj_yaFM96OvGc5m9TtyksLaifNj_KSRHcEQunJ7i6KJfDi0XE7qMY9lfMg74llfq5ehnmagTqT0472JJJ9neeJSsA_PSCGLteU5SWmwVb3ahQ/s1600-h/audi-logo.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 440px; height: 179px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWI07KMqokV-Ef6ZQwS_vEhLdBj-5J6lj_yaFM96OvGc5m9TtyksLaifNj_KSRHcEQunJ7i6KJfDi0XE7qMY9lfMg74llfq5ehnmagTqT0472JJJ9neeJSsA_PSCGLteU5SWmwVb3ahQ/s400/audi-logo.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5390151504486818434" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="font-size:180%;">A</span>udi has quite the reputation of creating smart and clean adverts. Knowing that an idea you have doesn't have to be confined to the traditional formats of the 48 Sheets etc is a concept I was introduced to a few years ago and haven't stopped wanting to learn about. I can concede that sometimes the traditional mediums can perform better but I know which of the two I'd rather stumble across on an amble through town. Like most British tourists, we saw the familiar sights: la Sagrada Familia, the Picasso museum, Casa Battlo etc. They were all very impressive, particularly la Sagrada Familia which should hopefully be completed in 2026.<br /><br />The one that stood out above the rest was the Font Magica de Montjuic; a fountain that performs a display of water and light to classical music every night. After enjoying the infinite details on the website, I walked into the cinema and sat down happily entertaining the idea that this was happening. It began as a documentary, with 'talking heads' of different people of significance such as sociologists and MNU employees. I would prefer to watch something for 2 hours that has a great degree of possibility or logicality - even though this concept of aliens is out of this world, the reaction of the sinister global conglomerate to these refugees and the reactions of the on-screen general public made it more compelling viewing.<br /><br />I'm quite the film-buff so I took great pleasure in seeing both the movie and its supporting website.Andy Hewitthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13836663528474282415noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2016466868583953784.post-39917648894287393282009-09-30T09:19:00.000-07:002009-10-08T02:16:19.864-07:00Cai Guo-Qiang<span style="font-size:180%;">I</span>magine yourself in New York City. Rather than being the sadly deceased screen icon of <span style="font-style: italic;">The Great Escape</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">Hunger</span> was brought to us by a 40 year old Turner Prize winner.<br /><br />Let's get the trivial information out of the way: <span style="font-style: italic;">Hunger</span> depicts the lives of IRA activists during the 1981 hunger strike in Maze Prison, Northern Ireland. Initially instigated by Bobby Sands / <span style="font-style: italic;">Michael Fassbender</span> (who survived 66 days of the strike), it lasted for seven months and resulted in a further nine men dying for their cause.<br /><br />To understand this brutal epic you need to understand the director's roots, where he is best known for his work as an accomplished artist. See <span style="font-style: italic;">Deadpan </span>(1997).<br />The dialogue takes an absence from the majority of the screen-time and replaced by actions that truly speak louder than words (I've put an adequate example below). In fact, the only real dialogue comes in 44minutes after pressing PLAY and stays fixed in a one-shot sequence for 22minutes.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='440' height='366' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dyVb2Zj97Eph5mgq3YeYajzsMitxBFyGQBzNrLfSuO0ytKiZHpMK_nVLyzomEBIygOnRM6MRjnULsfsak8JVw' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><br /></div><br />It's strange to watch a movie with no character's opening their mouths, you begin to start interpreting their actions and filling in the blanks, so to speak. Every shot is carefully planned, further evidence that McQueen's previous experiences have helped him here.<br /><br />This isn't the type of film that you can just sit down and switch off and enjoy (See example above again if unconvinced). You watch brutal scenes based on actual events and, predictably, that's the only way that these can be told with any justice.<br /><br />One of the most striking images of the entire film has to be the final act where we see a transformed Bobby Sands. At first I believed that there was some kind of digital effect going on to make Fassbender (you might remember him from <span style="font-style: italic;">300</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Eden Lake</span> - another movie I'll be writing on soon) appear to be not amongst the living. After watching the special features of the disc (a vice that I do alongside listening to directors commentary of the film), I learnt that he was on a diet of 600 caleries per day for three months: that's a handful of nuts, berries and two sardines every day. Very few actors have that degree of commitment so to watch it on the screen made for a chilling viewing.<br />(Apologies for the theatrics)<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7itJqGPLbC08QDayCQJkXSq9DwqLWiKRtYvYgCs4RfzArXlKyHXFZNfaZE-dkDh3v9ryImhZMw_HqiR3mxeZoyDCzpOS8JtEw5zsr9AV4SFqKzs9DQe1rTIYPSM_JqISAR17odEJ5hg/s1600-h/Hunger1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 440px; height: 293px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7itJqGPLbC08QDayCQJkXSq9DwqLWiKRtYvYgCs4RfzArXlKyHXFZNfaZE-dkDh3v9ryImhZMw_HqiR3mxeZoyDCzpOS8JtEw5zsr9AV4SFqKzs9DQe1rTIYPSM_JqISAR17odEJ5hg/s400/Hunger1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386959700368171938" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFU7kHykGaa6B377EzVlq4A_s46VHrRB0z6elEtS1QzSq8WDa8fApDwRWZ3yM6fPtpWgHuOXQ4O5nYNbgSY7XV8cIxlE4pCbWE9TOqGr1MbiWtWqdcuYe-7oEiFXDn8tAJzI8bjuLlWg/s1600-h/Hunger2.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 440px; height: 293px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFU7kHykGaa6B377EzVlq4A_s46VHrRB0z6elEtS1QzSq8WDa8fApDwRWZ3yM6fPtpWgHuOXQ4O5nYNbgSY7XV8cIxlE4pCbWE9TOqGr1MbiWtWqdcuYe-7oEiFXDn8tAJzI8bjuLlWg/s400/Hunger2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386959692288950482" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFX5LRlApCCCx58KHN3CZ3yxKEuwCKNnzB_X6zBG_p4m6k32Tw-T6IOo9TEZWiHKhyo89yxXOJ4Y4ETfyJXvx9JqdKE_3aoS9KAPDjNt2CDv-QVkpMNaK_LgY9vZZ1vh7cavhSVwI2Rg/s1600-h/Hunger3.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 440px; height: 293px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFX5LRlApCCCx58KHN3CZ3yxKEuwCKNnzB_X6zBG_p4m6k32Tw-T6IOo9TEZWiHKhyo89yxXOJ4Y4ETfyJXvx9JqdKE_3aoS9KAPDjNt2CDv-QVkpMNaK_LgY9vZZ1vh7cavhSVwI2Rg/s400/Hunger3.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386959682156408690" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfzuTpe4cAUS-85_OmbPRQoOdFX0kgnvDgkq8elzaaQZpg61fibTGNCnNQHnc7Kr3kX7GW_5UExtdm5MHX1d5vGY6r5Y5GNTpR6ofOUpWuvC_Ws3JICaBg6LuLTrCUPdcQAjT4nyP0Sg/s1600-h/Hunger4.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 440px; height: 293px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfzuTpe4cAUS-85_OmbPRQoOdFX0kgnvDgkq8elzaaQZpg61fibTGNCnNQHnc7Kr3kX7GW_5UExtdm5MHX1d5vGY6r5Y5GNTpR6ofOUpWuvC_Ws3JICaBg6LuLTrCUPdcQAjT4nyP0Sg/s400/Hunger4.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386959679293084258" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaxGVV4rg5QlN2nfQC9zBi7RsO_Y0jbfxqwmfPZXd8EyOnmBpAy3lLz3XZMpRL4fXnqXBDAU6tes8xMuvouisEKqVYilukHYll6fzfxN6-4B-9kiJoAY95EL7B06nG-IoSa_DALohb5w/s1600-h/Hunger6.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 440px; height: 293px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaxGVV4rg5QlN2nfQC9zBi7RsO_Y0jbfxqwmfPZXd8EyOnmBpAy3lLz3XZMpRL4fXnqXBDAU6tes8xMuvouisEKqVYilukHYll6fzfxN6-4B-9kiJoAY95EL7B06nG-IoSa_DALohb5w/s400/Hunger6.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386959669821485554" border="0" /></a><br />It's a must see.Andy Hewitthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13836663528474282415noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2016466868583953784.post-66817699687840865312009-09-29T04:09:00.000-07:002009-09-30T08:46:38.577-07:00Playing With Type<span style="font-size:180%;">N</span>othing beats the feeling of an impulse purchase of a good-looking book. I fell victim recently to <span style="font-style: italic;">Playful Type - </span>a book dedicated to having fun with type. Before coming to Leeds Uni, it never really dawned on me that there's more to typography than just picking a typeface on Illustrator that looked 'nice'. Thankfully I was mistaken.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjK1RBDoN-OMea3h3D-fSg4mY4PdnNgXdbdFppl0jC8eOXNF0DM9ms5Na0zPovpKoBorL0aZyjSeD2VK8wqNVKBTl52QxRjjduOQNKmYUU1yQX2Xigq2LwjGE04Nm4hZgJPCFBOr2AJgQ/s1600-h/DSCF1104.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 440px; height: 588px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjK1RBDoN-OMea3h3D-fSg4mY4PdnNgXdbdFppl0jC8eOXNF0DM9ms5Na0zPovpKoBorL0aZyjSeD2VK8wqNVKBTl52QxRjjduOQNKmYUU1yQX2Xigq2LwjGE04Nm4hZgJPCFBOr2AJgQ/s400/DSCF1104.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386867863195129250" border="0" /></a><br />I realize that this isn't a new and unique idea of carving letters out of apples or what have you but I've gone through this book many, many times and given you a small selection of the best. This was quite difficult because there isn't a minger in the pack; each beautiful in their own way.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6oadP63X18otlXTelnN_daxv0oyTmcXVvvuY-z0epEOUmtb0ohuWW5faVAA5umlanGJ9kOvifLKCWEGNphlg_Ak8oZ_Wb12CbPQqTQR7xdua4AjTYFRi3DmEmaHSyDpmRE_cGd_JcGA/s1600-h/DSCF1125.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 440px; height: 587px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6oadP63X18otlXTelnN_daxv0oyTmcXVvvuY-z0epEOUmtb0ohuWW5faVAA5umlanGJ9kOvifLKCWEGNphlg_Ak8oZ_Wb12CbPQqTQR7xdua4AjTYFRi3DmEmaHSyDpmRE_cGd_JcGA/s400/DSCF1125.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386874602826161554" border="0" /></a><br />Personally, this is the most bewitching type design I have ever seen. It has thousands of specimens to choose from and, more importantly, cheap as chips.<br /><br />I'll be the first to admit that when I first started this course I didn't care much for typography. I had all the books; I knew all the terminology; but at the end of the day I thought Helvetica would save the day. Thankfully, I'm no longer that naive.<br /><br />Sites like these are just as important as <a href="http://www.dirtymouse.co.uk/">Dirty Mouse</a> or <a href="http://www.made-in-england.org/">Made In England</a>; everyday I go online to see how typography is changing and modifying themselves to become more functional and enticing.<br />As with any creative website, you'll come across some truly <a href="http://www.dafont.com/new-facebook.font">diabolical creation</a> but every once in a while, you'll come across a <a href="http://www.dafont.com/champagne-limousines.font">gem</a>.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQRf3RJZ0ReilFy4z-05G9wjr2j__WaDDIlnw3k-BTwQsLSyGcCozInS5T7pPOJAXMHWmZXqjQnjow3FaHBCdTWolWSfPAKio9Jf6upZD8LIPRa6HWg5t1bHhyphenhyphen9Pz45LtGcyMgvhOLlA/s1600-h/hype-for-type.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 440px; height: 682px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQRf3RJZ0ReilFy4z-05G9wjr2j__WaDDIlnw3k-BTwQsLSyGcCozInS5T7pPOJAXMHWmZXqjQnjow3FaHBCdTWolWSfPAKio9Jf6upZD8LIPRa6HWg5t1bHhyphenhyphen9Pz45LtGcyMgvhOLlA/s400/hype-for-type.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386490747830140242" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://www.hypefortype.com/">Hype For Type</a> is another similar website like DaFont but one minor detail: you need to purchase their typefaces. But, and a big one at that, a great deal of them are worth every penny. I'm not ashamed to say that I've bought quite a few from here with the hope of using them on some projects I have in the works at the moment.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUClKmo3vH1H7UxPf6tvpSmV_8wmOOisRgckM52bdt4Mt1amw4HxvEyH1QZJbCUf1p9l2qVyC6QpxRFUAObli1sMufVQdxC_QaaiY1IM-zd2evVA462hHh3qEB0bX_NKuUGCNpM-ruSQ/s1600-h/Press+Gothic"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 440px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUClKmo3vH1H7UxPf6tvpSmV_8wmOOisRgckM52bdt4Mt1amw4HxvEyH1QZJbCUf1p9l2qVyC6QpxRFUAObli1sMufVQdxC_QaaiY1IM-zd2evVA462hHh3qEB0bX_NKuUGCNpM-ruSQ/s400/Press+Gothic" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386491751435636034" border="0" /></a><br />Those of you who collect Creative Review might recognize Press Gothic V2 in the September 2009 issue.Andy Hewitthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13836663528474282415noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2016466868583953784.post-85281326302865563052009-09-27T07:46:00.000-07:002009-10-08T03:38:36.070-07:00Polaroid: EXP.09.10.09<a style="font-family: georgia;" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVe-1VBbtrKEMkP9g_wA0Ly1f3E0cAYHn16SzqnKQXZZdj64AmOuR0U1Fux26_L4BK1T7bJ7S2WP3XQnEAiyCx169uwKNcoqLI_XrVBdaNTxW8wbWIAYaLJ8mLRPcXCm_3XodmSWussA/s1600-h/5.png"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 440px; height: 152px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVe-1VBbtrKEMkP9g_wA0Ly1f3E0cAYHn16SzqnKQXZZdj64AmOuR0U1Fux26_L4BK1T7bJ7S2WP3XQnEAiyCx169uwKNcoqLI_XrVBdaNTxW8wbWIAYaLJ8mLRPcXCm_3XodmSWussA/s400/5.png" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386187768752713138" border="0" /></a><a style="font-family: georgia;" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEityBCDSOfHUj9WU4tnpMUfGYnwcJr3Wt2qTfHIrdIhRF5hyphenhyphenAePnCmAKxCh_ZosossxqqtiNIOgsyAJbq3Gh91HBkmUxt4dAcOehEa4YwIvc7ZeUfoIZFniDH8AtRJkijUNJPjoT77yjA/s1600-h/6.png"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 440px; height: 178px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEityBCDSOfHUj9WU4tnpMUfGYnwcJr3Wt2qTfHIrdIhRF5hyphenhyphenAePnCmAKxCh_ZosossxqqtiNIOgsyAJbq3Gh91HBkmUxt4dAcOehEa4YwIvc7ZeUfoIZFniDH8AtRJkijUNJPjoT77yjA/s400/6.png" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386188655591756066" border="0" /></a><span style=";font-family:courier new;font-size:100%;" ><br /></span><span style=";font-family:georgia;font-size:100%;" ><span style="font-size:180%;">I</span>n 1944, Edwin Land's daughter, whilst on holiday, asked him why she couldn't look at the snaps right away. Stumbled across this website by misspelling a search I was doing for another blog-spot, and I was so happy I did. The premise is pretty self-explanatory. The click is extinct.<br /><br />My initial experience was difficult to say the least. I began concentrating incredibly hard on not to click (if I was using an actual mouse rather than a mouse pad then I dread to think how much longer it would of taken me to adapt). Soon after, the movements between accessing the different sections of information started to feel more natural. I'm still on the website now just gliding through the website with an unusual satisfaction. Everything from the alluring color palette used to the chosen typeface, all the elements brought together create a stunning website built on a simple idea.<br /><br />I've only added a few screen shots of my first time using the website because I didn't want to spoil your own experience on it. <a href="http://dontclick.it/">Enjoy</a>.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy6-Q_stYlG1o-LAh_yCQspFIl5y1jTPQIWVO1v_cny7mmmfvImaFplH6MAHvfIWXBYG64Rdsg8JE8PbI3NP6Z7IzkcQyTlzE_KdoritVUOGO97Gj0rSj12-Hiej1igIRRth1U0XmIIg/s1600-h/c1.png"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 440px; height: 215px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy6-Q_stYlG1o-LAh_yCQspFIl5y1jTPQIWVO1v_cny7mmmfvImaFplH6MAHvfIWXBYG64Rdsg8JE8PbI3NP6Z7IzkcQyTlzE_KdoritVUOGO97Gj0rSj12-Hiej1igIRRth1U0XmIIg/s400/c1.png" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5387766111461186562" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiONtvk3Yt-eYH0yIzu-gfcbfsoYE6Ird8iOYHpJaH6Ivuzrt3Ne6DF9rJmdjKj6W9Dlm4J4qKE9QCPH_bW667POlL1oRS2arK5sDQtIe_SoCaP4g7SacCOOd1-HeOJh-vPvXY42Gz15w/s1600-h/c2.png"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 440px; height: 213px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiONtvk3Yt-eYH0yIzu-gfcbfsoYE6Ird8iOYHpJaH6Ivuzrt3Ne6DF9rJmdjKj6W9Dlm4J4qKE9QCPH_bW667POlL1oRS2arK5sDQtIe_SoCaP4g7SacCOOd1-HeOJh-vPvXY42Gz15w/s400/c2.png" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5387766119579492962" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5XKA8iOdn0NtH4yCA3An1arE6Wdw5LNfsS3oMnfAyS18-wY1DvM8s06CTUn1J9gf42ZdGTr6Mp5uJC3mAM8mXqoJgrXGAZEI0vPLtznLXkaOOJ7YODriDzCTkQvvs2pa-uiM7BHGgWw/s1600-h/c3.png"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 439px; height: 211px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5XKA8iOdn0NtH4yCA3An1arE6Wdw5LNfsS3oMnfAyS18-wY1DvM8s06CTUn1J9gf42ZdGTr6Mp5uJC3mAM8mXqoJgrXGAZEI0vPLtznLXkaOOJ7YODriDzCTkQvvs2pa-uiM7BHGgWw/s400/c3.png" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5387766128604155426" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2OM3gYKEVoBUd6NLjg-s6-n3u3YaK4psrp8DCZGb7BLADBfF9wXdkZpERNd5VekO8e1HAcgfI3DrNoiHkx8dwYMOYyV894sUEF222USY5PBf-P0S9rSJByi0kiKbiY5nMp2PuIOT_OA/s1600-h/c4.png"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 440px; height: 213px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2OM3gYKEVoBUd6NLjg-s6-n3u3YaK4psrp8DCZGb7BLADBfF9wXdkZpERNd5VekO8e1HAcgfI3DrNoiHkx8dwYMOYyV894sUEF222USY5PBf-P0S9rSJByi0kiKbiY5nMp2PuIOT_OA/s400/c4.png" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5387766132116673442" border="0" /></a>Andy Hewitthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13836663528474282415noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2016466868583953784.post-91187132296235669602009-09-06T07:41:00.001-07:002009-09-27T09:52:46.573-07:00Clever Design<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHNnSDLRD6L8_iD_9I6kT3SoaVFxWGEB-3S0PzZQRMDHtu1QyvwoCl6Snie5YreQR70AP63-1yDflrMuW-UDdqLMYJPO9wfoX2doDTm6wRLp1q5UKdlIkSEjtbxrB7vynLVvQwfJLukQ/s1600-h/digital+book02.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 441px; height: 328px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHNnSDLRD6L8_iD_9I6kT3SoaVFxWGEB-3S0PzZQRMDHtu1QyvwoCl6Snie5YreQR70AP63-1yDflrMuW-UDdqLMYJPO9wfoX2doDTm6wRLp1q5UKdlIkSEjtbxrB7vynLVvQwfJLukQ/s400/digital+book02.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5378369482484331634" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="font-size:180%;">D</span>esigned by product innovator <a href="http://www.blogger.com/www.richardshed.com">Richard Shed</a>, this is his submission for the Blood on Paper exhibition. I was in London last year visiting some relatives and I stumbled on an exhibition called <a href="http://www.vam.ac.uk/vastatic/microsites/1636_chinadesignnow/the-exhibition">China Design Now</a>.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgml3a5t0FlzJMPj23Cj0HQ1jHYxiKz6xSKspQKyXtyAtn8c9dcqCp9PJibbBLyKN2p399nP1-KCOGwDdODxIbsa40Qbr9W3JJThLYtDgpZqSBrLvaeH5lnAf4ebqNC-RfYwb7jgH62Q/s1600-h/china+design+now.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 440px; height: 328px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgml3a5t0FlzJMPj23Cj0HQ1jHYxiKz6xSKspQKyXtyAtn8c9dcqCp9PJibbBLyKN2p399nP1-KCOGwDdODxIbsa40Qbr9W3JJThLYtDgpZqSBrLvaeH5lnAf4ebqNC-RfYwb7jgH62Q/s400/china+design+now.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5390181623976986546" border="0" /></a><br />The exhibition travels along three coastal cities and their take on design. Each were impressive in their own right but the jewel in the crown was Beijing. The Olympics was a major effort in both the stadium and the opening ceremony. This exhibition unveiled conceptual drawings, behind-the-scenes photographs of the construction of the Olmypics, as well as present day examples of Beijing's impressive architecture.<br /><br />Sadly, I wasn't allowed to take any pictures and when I attempted to I got some pretty scornful eyes and a stern telling off. I've searched the best images off the internet that can hopefully give you an idea of how good this exhibition was...<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7yMC-44aljLsSteSsCeIx_VlvGa3jJy7OEdC6j0YPMBJF620HNQ5WPXkIWUuidaA5JOaSkAZVmpruXQs7L4uyv_LHJOBq-2Ye4PgguoqxppLglefpTuszCNiW1f8PJGI_YIajDWxWZQ/s1600-h/squtl-keith-collie-021.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px;
